In 2020 I was selected in a nationwide talent hunt run by Network18, India’s largest television network, for The Young Genius — a national programme showcasing child prodigies. The selection jury included NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, CNBC-India Managing Editor Shereen Bhan, and Padma Shri awardee Mohandas Pai.
The show interviewed over 20,000 children across the country to select 22 finalists across areas of super-specialisation. In several categories the jury picked more than one child. In Robotics & Engineering, they picked one. The episode aired on CNN-News18 and then across 14 channels in 26 states, in 15 languages.

HOPE, our wearable physiotherapy device, earned me a place on Team India at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair — the world’s largest pre-college science competition — through the IRIS National Fair in the Engineering Mechanics category.
Getting there meant defending the work in front of judges who had seen everything, which is a useful thing to have done at seventeen.
Arduino-controlled curtains that open at sunrise to let heat in and close at sunset to trap it. Students kept forgetting to do it manually, and a cold night in Ladakh is not a small thing to lose.
Won internationally with my school team, built in a woodwork lab during Covid because we had no metalworking facilities and couldn’t import parts.

I’ve received The Shri Ram School Innovators Award every year since grade six — five in a row, and counting. They’ve come for different things: the blind stick, the UV Killer built during Covid, and whatever else I happened to be building that year.
I don’t think of them as a scorecard. Each one is a reminder that I’ve had access to workshops, mentors, and the freedom to spend a weekend failing at something — which is not a given, and not something I take lightly.
