Closing the Divide in Rehabilitation
Most of India’s physically challenged citizens have no real access to physiotherapy. HOPE is a wearable device that moves the user’s limbs through controlled contraction and relaxation, adapting to individual limb shapes for comfort and effectiveness.
Early trials showed it could assist motor function — but also exposed gaps in feedback and safety. So we added a companion app and a force sensor that guards against excessive torque, turning physiotherapy into something data-driven and personal. Future versions will use machine learning to tailor programmes further.
HOPE earned me a place on Team India at the Regeneron ISEF competition through the IRIS National Fair.

Conventional footwear causes more damage than most people realise — Morton’s neuroma, bunions, hammertoes, mallet toes, flat feet. Existing separators work, but they’re bulky enough that nobody wears them where it matters: inside actual shoes, during an actual day.
This device is shaped like an infinity symbol, using loops that gently separate and realign the toes. Made from synthetic cotton, lycra, and spandex, it fits comfortably inside regular socks and shoes, with textured surfaces and notches that keep it in place.

We could have stopped there. Instead we took it to a blind school and handed it to the students it was meant for. We asked them what frightened them on a normal walk, what made them anxious, what would actually make them feel safer. Their answers changed the design — LIDAR-based obstacle detection, GPS navigation, and image-processing safety features all came out of that afternoon.
We built finished sticks and gave them to the students who tested them. They still use them.

At SECMOL I had to travel into the city constantly for supplies, and depending on other people for transport made me uncomfortable. It occurred to me that this was a temporary inconvenience for me and a permanent condition for a lot of other people.
So I designed and built an E-Rickshaw that a wheelchair user can drive themselves. Not ride in — drive. The point wasn’t mobility alone, it was inverting the dependence: turning someone who relies on their family for transport into someone earning an income for that family.
It’s now in active use with an NGO partner, and the driver it was built for is making a living from it.

Above 26°C the vent opens and the exhaust starts. Below it, both shut. The plants no longer depend on anyone remembering.
